Roy Keane è stato licenziato dall’ incarico di manager dell’ Ipswich Town (tifosi in foto ). La dirigenza non gli ha perdonato l’ulteriore sconfitta contro il Nottingham Forest dopo che l’allenatore aveva chiesto ed ottenuto dalla facoltosa proprietà giocatori per circa 8 milioni di euro. Sempre a proposito di conti, l’allenatore dei Rangers ha accusato le banche di condizionare eccessivamente il mercato della squadra, nonostante il deficit sia dimezzato ed una nuova proprietà multimionaria sia piuttosto avanti nella trattativa per l’acquisizione del club. La materia del contendere sarebbero i soldi necessari per l’acquisto dell’attaccante Goodwillie. “Meritiamo di più e la nostra pazienza sta per finire” avrebbe dichiarato Smith.

Roy Keane has been sacked as manager of Ipswich after 20 months at Portman Road, BBC Sport understands.
The club have suffered seven losses in nine games and the 1-0 defeat by Nottingham Forest on Monday left the club 19th in the Championship table.Ipswich, backed by multi-millionaire Marcus Evans, have invested £8m on players during Keane’s reign.The 39-year-old Irishman led Town to the semi-final of the Carling Cup where they will play Arsenal.The first leg of their last four clash against the Gunners is due to take place at Portman Road on Wednesday, 12 January, although Keane’s replacement will first have to contend with an FA Cup third round tie at Chelsea on Sunday.Speaking after the home defeat by Forest on Monday the former Manchester United and Republic of Ireland midfielder, said: “I’m doing my best and if my best isn’t good enough, then I’ll take the consequences.”I don’t expect you to be giving me phone calls if I do lose my job. WALTER SMITH’S patience with the bankers running Rangers finally snapped last night as he told Lloyds’ chiefs: “We deserve better.”
The Gers boss has been informed there is no chance of him signing a player in the transfer window or bringing someone in on loan until he sells one of his stars.If the Ibrox boss does punt one of his high earners it is understood he could make a move for Dundee United striker David Goodwillie.Smith has been strapped into a financial straitjacket by Lloyds for the last few years despite winning back-to-back titles that have earned the club millions of pounds of Champions League cash.
And although he was handed £4million to sign Nikica Jelavic in the summer, Smith has been forced to oversee an Ibrox exodus of big-name stars including Kris Boyd, Kevin Thomson, Nacho Novo, Danny Wilson, DaMarcus Beasley, Carlos Cuellar and Pedro Mendes.Now, as his threadbare squad faces a spell of seven matches in 23 days, Smith’s simmering anger at the bank’s refusal to loosen their grip on the finances has boiled over.And he echoed a motto used by a dissident fans’ group two years ago when they protested about the proposed sale of Boyd under the banner: ‘We Deserve Better.’ The 62-year-old said: “You feel as though the situation is a bit unfair. We need a bit of help.”You had the situation a couple of years ago when the boys put the banner up saying ‘We Deserve Better.’ “Of course, they meant the supporters.”Well, at times, you have to look at it from our side and realise that we do deserve better for what we’ve done.”Ibrox chief executive Martin Bain’s attempts to prise cash out of the bank for transfers has been met with a blank refusal and only if a player is sold will Smith get the chance to make a signing.And even if a prize asset like Allan McGregor is punted Smith may only get a fraction of the transfer fee to reinvest.The manager, who will quit at the end of May, added: “We are well and truly in the hands of the bank.”There isn’t a long-term view, they are only looking at it from a short-term perspective.”While Smith will be forced to sell before he can buy, a move for Arabs ace Goodwillie would represent a good piece of business.Dundee United want around £1million for the Scotland international.And with speculation mounting that Ibrox striker Kenny Miller could be sold this month, the 21-year-old would be an ideal replacement.
