Ora i “Red Devils” hanno 2 punti di vantaggio con due gare da recuperare e la possibilità di mettere a segno un allungo importante.In coda tracolli per il West Ham, di nuovo ultimo e sommerso di reti dal Newcastle (5-0 ), e per il Liverpool battuto a Blackburn (3-1) con relativa panchina di Hodgson messa in discussione dalla proprietà stessa.

Arsenal failed to break down a stubborn Manchester City side at the Emirates as both sides missed the chance to put pressure on leaders Manchester United.

The Gunners, third in the Premier League, were the better team throughout but Robin van Persie, Cesc Fabregas and Theo Walcott all struck the post.Walcott felt he should have had a penalty and Van Persie forced a stunning save from keeper Joe Hart.Bacary Sagna and Pablo Zabaleta were sent off after a late confrontation.It was a disappointing way for the game to finish, with Sagna guilty of leaning his head in towards Zabaleta’s after a challenge by the touchline, though what the Argentine did to warrant a dismissal is anyone’s guess.

Arsenal will be the more frustrated of the teams as the result keeps City second, two points behind United having played two games more, while the Gunners are four points behind having played once more than the leaders.A goalless draw seemed an unlikely outcome when the game started at a stunning pace as Arsenal, keen to establish themselves as United’s principal challengers this season, stormed out of the blocks in thrilling fashion.

Liverpool’s owners are considering whether to sack manager Roy Hodgson but no decision has yet been taken, BBC Sport understands.

Liverpool are 12th in the Premier League table following Wednesday’s 3-1 loss at Blackburn – their ninth defeat in 20 top-flight games this season.With over half the campaign gone, the 18-times league champions are currently four points above the relegation zone.Hodgson left Fulham to take charge at Anfield in July.

Wolves rose out of the drop zone with a deserved win to add more pressure on to defending champions Chelsea.

The hosts opened the scoring on six minutes when defender Jose Boswinga directed the ball into his own net from Stephen Hunt’s inswinging corner.Chelsea improved, with Salomon Kalou denied by goalkeeper Wayne Hennessey and Didier Drogba hitting the upright.Florent Malouda shot wide for the Blues but they ran out of ideas as Wolves wasted chances to score again.And so the stuttering form shows no sign of improving for the west Londoners, who have won only one of their last nine league games – their worst run for 14 years.
