Four football yobs locked up for 15 months each after Burton violence

FOUR football yobs behind shameful scenes at Grimsby Town‘s clash with Burton Albion have been locked up for 15 months each.A High Court Pirelli Stadium in May as terrifying “drunken thuggery” judge branded their behaviour at the .Now four of the worst offenders have been brought to justice before Stafford Crown Court.The court heard how Mariners’ fans – many of them drunk – fought with police and stewards, threw hoardings at them and tried to “get at” Burton Albion supporters.A line of officers and stewards stretched across the pitch at Burton’s Pirelli Stadium to push the hooligans back from the home stand.The trouble started before the final whistle, with Grimsby losing 3-0. Angry fans stood on the edge of the pitch, throwing things on to the top of the goal netting, said Robert Price, prosecuting. And at the final whistle, there was a mass invasion of the pitch.

Dons and Gers games are postponed

The thaw has resulted in “significant water damage” at Ibrox Aberdeen’s Scottish Premier League match with Motherwell has been postponed due to the freezing weather. Rangers v St Mirren was called off on Thursday after water damage at Ibrox, while an inspection is planned for St Johnstone v Dundee United.In Division Three, Clyde v Arbroath is off and other matches in the Scottish Football League are expected to fall victim to the elements.There are pitch inspections at Dundee and Brechin City.Snow fell in Aberdeen on Thursday and a statement from the SPL read: “The extreme weather conditions currently in the North East and its forecast continuance over the weekend led to police concerns about spectator safety travelling to and around Pittodrie Stadium.
