Neve e ghiaccio stanno pesantemente condizionando il calendario dei campionati britannnici. La SPL ha deciso di rimandare integralmente il turno, sebbene queste altre partite posticipate stiano sollevando una selva di polemiche in merito agli appuntamenti da ridatare. Infatti alcune partite erano già state posticipate la settimana precedente. E’ andata meglio in EPL dove, però, non sono scese in campo Blackpool e Man Utd. Approfittando del rinvio della capolista l’Arsenal è volato in testa piegando il Fulham mentre il Chelsea è stato bloccato in casa dall’ Everton (1-1). Tre punti anche per il Man City ed il Blackburn. Nelle serie minori, invece, tantissime le partite fermate dal maltempo.Dopo i gravi incidenti nel corso del derby di Birmingham di “Carling Cup” le autorità stanno colpendo con durezza i protagonisti di scontri, anche nelle categorie minori. Un tifoso del Cheltenham è stato diffidato per tre anni a seguito dei tafferugli che supporters dei Robins hanno originato contro l’ Oxford. Polizia locale e club minacciano altre identificazioni ed un forte giro di vite.

Two flashes of genius from Samir Nasri nudged jittery Arsenal past Fulham in a breathless encounter at the Emirates.
The Frenchman lashed the hosts into an early lead after dancing inside two defenders before the Gunners wasted a host of chances to extend their lead.A clash of heads affecting Arsenal’s Laurent Koscielny let Diomansy Kamara slot a slick but contested equaliser.But Nasri decided the match late on after jinking past a posse of defenders to slip the ball home from an angle.Thanks to French international Nasri, who now has 11 goals from midfield this season, Arsenal have moved to the top of the Premier League – one point clear of Manchester United – as they put rare back-to-back home defeats behind them, albeit in nervous fashion.

Chelsea wasted the chance to return to the top of the Premier League after they were held at home by Everton.
John Terry hit the crossbar before Didier Drogba scored a penalty after Tim Howard fouled Nicolas Anelka.Everton struck the post through a Jack Rodwell header in the second half while Chelsea defender Ashley Cole failed to convert a low cross from six yards.Jermaine Beckford then headed a late equaliser to extend Chelsea’s top-flight winless streak to six games.

Blackpool-Manchester United game called off
Blackpool’s Premier League game against Manchester United has been postponed because of a frozen pitch.
The decision was taken on Friday afternoon after referee Peter Walton expressed concern that parts of the playing surface would not thaw in time.Bloomfield Road does not have under-soil heating, and large hot-air blowers had been used in an attempt to ensure the pitch was playable.No new date has been set for the fixture.

Clear message to football yobs
THE banning order handed down to X should send out one message loud and clear.Neither Cheltenham Town nor Gloucestershire Police will tolerate misbehaviour in or around the Abbey Business Stadium.What would hit a football yob hardest? A fine? A short-term jail sentence?The truth is that it’s probably neither of these things. To really hurt them, stop them watching football.X, convicted of a public order offence before an evening game against Oxford United, will no longer be able to watch his team at their home games. In fact, he is banned from every ground in the country for the next three years.Cynics would say that he would be able to get into games elsewhere in the country because he would not be recognised. And there is probably some truth in that.However, it is clear that every turnstile operator at Cheltenham Town will be fully aware of what X looks like. There is no way he will be able to set foot in the ground.The police make it clear that it is a tiny minority of Robins supporters who ever cause problems.The club itself is fully supportive of action like this because it helps them maintain their important reputation as a family club.X is missing out on the sport he loves. Even more important than that, other would-be hooligans also know that if they misbehave, they will be next.

Rangers’ fans fury as SPL reschedule Dundee United match for midweek before Christmas

RAGING Rangers fans have slammed the SPL’s decision to reschedule their game against Dundee United at Tannadice for the Tuesday night before Christmas.Ibrox fans’ chiefs have branded the switch “ludicrous” and warned that United will be hit in the pocket as many supporters will refuse to make the trek to Tayside.It is understood the SPL wanted the fixture to be played on Tuesday, December 14 but Dundee already had a First Division match against Cowdenbeath pencilled in for that date along the road at Dens Park.And Europa League action the following night meant UEFA wouldn’tlet the United-Rangers clash, which is being shown live on ESPN, be beamed in direct competition.That left December 21 as the next free midweek date but Rangers Assembly spokesman Andy Kerr said: “It’s completely unreasonable.“My enquiries had led me to believe there would probably be a fixture on either the 14th or the 15th, which would not have been ideal but would have been palatable. But to schedule a game four days before Christmas is ludicrous.“We have a game on Boxing Day, another one on the 29th, then the Old Firm and a rescheduled cup game against Kilmarnock on the following Monday night. We are being messed about.“I would never advocate getting special treatment but surely some consideration must be given to clubs who are taking thousands of fans on the road to away games. Does the SPL really believe it is reasonable to have huge numbers on that road on a night just before Christmas?”
