Secondo la stampa inglese  Carlo Ancelotti sarebbe vicinissimo ad annunciare il proprio passaggio dal Milan alla guida del Chelsea. Secondo “The Sun” nella scelta del tecnico avrebbero pesato in modo rilevante le critiche mossegli dal proprietario del club rossonero Berlusconi. Intanto sempre i “tabloids”  britannici polemizzano per quanto riguarda la scelta degli stadi che ospiteranno gli Europei 2012 di Ukraina e Polonia ( tifosi della nazionale dei “tre leoni” in foto ); praticamente nessun impianto tra quelli della ex repubblica sovietica garantirebbe requisiti di sicurezza accettabili. Conseguenze giudiziarie per sette tifosi coinvolti nella rissa del 2 maggio scorso tra tifosi del Carlisle e del Millwall cosi’ come sono comparsi davanti alla corte alcuni dei supporters del Tottenham accusati di avere intonato cori discriminatori nei confronti del difensore del Portsmouth, ex Spurs, Campbell, in occasione del match disputatosi a “Fratton Park” nello scorso autunno.

CARLO ANCELOTTI is expected to confirm tomorrow that he will take over at Chelsea in the summer.

Sources close to the Italian coach believe he will make the announcement if his AC Milan side clinch a Champions League place by beating Udinese.Ancelotti, 49, was stunned and disappointed by the verbal attack launched on him by Milan owner Silvio Berlusconi this week.Berlusconi blamed the coach and his tactics for costing AC the Serie A title which will be won by Jose Mourinho’s Inter.That was the final straw for Ancelotti who is understood to have been in touch with Chelsea officials since to confirm he is taking the job at Stamford Bridge.He will remain at the San Siro for the remainder of the season before joining the Blues next month.Ancelotti has already been involved in identifying new players for Chelsea and SunSport revealed this week he has identified Aston Villa’s Ashley Young as a top target”

England fans face ‘hell’ for World Cup qualifier in Ukraine

“England fans face the journey from hell for the World Cup qualifier in Ukraine on October 10.A venue has yet to be named but it will not be the capital Kiev, even though that is the only city in the country to meet UEFA standards.Ukraine is due to jointly host Euro 2012 with Poland but European football’s governing body is increasingly worried at the quality of potential venues.Ukrainian authorities reportedly want the game in Dnipropetrovsk but if that is the case, a Euro 2012 progress report paints a grim picture for the 2,000-plus fans expected to make the trip to support Fabio Capello’s England.”Uefa considers that due to the current shortcomings with regard to the stadiums, airport infrastructure, regional transport and accommodation, this venue will not meet tournament requirements,” said a UEFA spokesman..”

 

 

Seven men fined after Carlisle’s Millwall clash

SEVEN men have been fined – and one given a football banning order – following Carlisle United’s crunch football match against Millwall earlier this month.

“The seven men appeared at Carlisle Magistrates’ Court yesterday charged with offences including public disorder and being drunk and disorderly.More than 130 police officers were on duty in the city on Saturday, May 2 when Carlisle won their game 2-0 and escaped relegation.Hooligan Paul Frizzel, 37, of Bedford Road, off Dalston Road, Carlisle, was banned from attending football matches for three years and fined £155 by district judge Gerald Chalk.He pleaded guilty to public disorder.The court was told that Frizzel adopted a “fight stance” in front of the Millwall fans at the top of Warwick Road before the match.Prosecutor John Moran said: “He lunged at a group of Millwall supporters swinging his arms and kicking his legs.“Police had to use an incapacitating spray on him and then he was arrested.”Frizzel denied punching a window outside the Griffin pub on Botchergate.In mitigation, he said: “I was nowhere near the Griffin but I admit that I enticed the Millwall fans.“I think the whole day was heavily policed and that it’s a bit harsh to give me a football banning order for what I did.”Jonathan Attwood, 24, of Dalston Road, Carlisle, was fined £195 for being drunk and disorderly on Botchergate. He admitted the offence.He was arrested after the match for swearing at police.Mr Moran said: “He stepped out in front of a bus and was seen banging his fists on the windscreen.”Margaret Payne, defending him, said: “My client has been a football fan since he was four. He has never been in any football related trouble before and he accepts that it was foolish.“He banged on the windows of the bus because his friend was driving it and he hadn’t seen him since he returned to Carlisle. The bus was in traffic at the time.”Michael Anderson, 31, of Hespeck Raise, Durranhill, Carlisle, admitted public disorder.He was seen shouting and swearing at police officers – some of them on horses – in a cordon which was set up in the city centre.He had been drinking in The Cumberland Inn before police cleared the pub.Nick Kennon, defending him, said: “He accepts that his language was unacceptable and he apologises. He did feel that the police were heavy handed.”He was fined £250.Luke Bell, 19, of Millriggs, Corby Hill, admitted public disorder and was fined £175.The court was told that he was swearing and acting aggressively towards the Millwall supporters.Stephen Wright, 28, of Marina Crescent, Currock, was fined £135 for being drunk and disorderly.The court was told he kept swearing at police. He admitted the offence.Keith Green, 51, of Welsh Road, Harraby, was fined £135 for being drunk and disorderly.He swore at the police and was escorted out of The Cumberland Inn by officers. He pleaded guilty.Michael Cameron, 20, of Eldon Drive, Harraby, was fined £165 for being drunk and disorderly.He admitted shouting and making hand gestures at police.The case of Stuart Salkeld, 31, of Stockwell Road, Blackwell, was adjourned until June 4 for a pre-sentence report to be prepared.”

 

Four In Court Over Sol Campbell Chants

Three men and a boy are to go on trial today for allegedly shouting racist and homophobic chants at Portsmouth footballer Sol Campbell during a match.The chants were allegedly made during a match against Tottenham Hotspur.The four defendants are all charged with indecent chanting, an offence under the Football Offences Act 1991.The charges relate to chants made at the former England defender during a match against Tottenham Hotspur at Fratton Park, Portsmouth, on September 28 last year.The defendants are Dean Nelson, 23, of Enfield, north London, Bradley Barnes, 35, of Bournemouth, Dorset, Ian Trow, 48, of Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire, and a youth of 1.Four other men pleaded guilty to the offence at a hearing in January and were sentenced to a three-year football banning order and a fine.Two 15-year-old boys have also been given police final warnings and an 18-year-old man given a police caution, according to the Crown Prosecution Service.The trial is being held at Portsmouth Magistrates Court.”
