Theo Walcott will sign new long-term Arsenal contract
Theo Walcott is on the verge of ending speculation about his future by signing a new long-term contract with Arsenal.
The 23-year-old England forward, who is in the final six months of his deal, rejected a five-year offer worth £75,000 a week in August.
But agreements have now been reached between Arsenal and their top scorer, who could put pen to paper on Friday if legal formalities can be completed.

Arsenal, who face Chelsea on Sunday, are set to confirm the news next week.
Talks stalled after Walcott turned down Arsenal’s summer proposal and it is only in the last two weeks that meaningful progress has been made.
Arsenal lawyers and the player’s advisors spent all of Thursday in negotiations before agreeing on most issues by 19:00 GMT.
The club had tabled a five-year contract worth a reported £90,000-a-week with a signing-on bonus worth around £3m.
Walcott favoured a three-and-a-half year deal but common ground has been found on that, and also on the complex area of image rights.
The Southampton academy graduate was upset with manager Arsene Wenger’s decision to use him mainly as a substitute earlier in the season, but Walcott has since regained a regular starting place.
He has also been given opportunities in his favoured central striker position, and his tally this season stands at 14 goals in 24 games.
This will bring an end to another protracted contract saga involving the Gunners, but this time they are keeping their player.
Last summer Arsenal lost Robin van Persie to Manchester United as he entered the last year of his deal, and in 2011 they sold Samir Nasri to Manchester City when he was in the same situation.
Mathieu Flamini was in an identical position to Walcott in 2008, and he chose to see out his final six months before joining AC Milan.
Arsenal also saw Cesc Fabregas move to Barcelona following lengthy speculation, although the Spaniard had longer left on his contract.
But Walcott will not to follow suit, instead committing his future to the team who signed him from Southampton as a 16-year-old in 2006.
Arsenal rebuffed a bid for him from Manchester City towards the end of the summer 2012 transfer window, while Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester United had also expressed an interest.

Aberdeen fans sentenced over Glasgow subway disorder
X, 47, and y, 41, pleaded guilty to forming part of a disorderly crowd, engaging in and challenging others to fight.
Z, 37, admitted shouting and swearing and repeatedly trying to breach a police cordon.
All three were given football banning orders at Glasgow Sheriff Court and ordered to carry out unpaid work.
The disturbance happened at Ibrox Subway Station prior to the game on 21 January 2012.
‘Agitated state’
Procurator fiscal depute Joe Stewart told a previous hearing that the three accused were in a pub in the west end of Glasgow along with about 100 Aberdeen fans before the game.
The court heard that the Aberdeen fans and some Rangers fans got off at Ibrox Subway Station and made their way up the stairs to Copland Road about 20 minutes before kick-off.
Mr Stewart said: “It was obvious from the CCTV and the police that some of the Aberdeen supporters were in an agitated state. Some of them were shouting and waving their hands.”
CCTV footage of the mass brawl at the underground was played in court.
The prosecutor said X, of Aberdeen, could be seen charging forward with other fans towards the Rangers supporters and lashing out.
He is described as “retreating” when mounted police became involved.
Y, from West Kilbride, North Ayrshire, was at the front of a crowd of fans seen fighting.
Banning orders
He was seen lunging towards rival supporters, swinging his arms, and also moving back when the police intervened.
Mr Stewart said Z, of Aberdeen, walked up and down the police cordon and repeatedly tried to breach it and push his way past the officers.
Passing sentence, Sheriff Ian Miller handed each of the men orders with the condition they must carry out unpaid work in the community within nine months.
He also issued football banning orders to each of them for varying lengths.
X must carry out 270 hours work and is banned for three years, Y must do 215 hours work and is banned for two years and Z has to carry out 235 hours work and his ban is for two-and-a-half years.
Z was fined £550 in 2002 after he was caught on camera punching a 71-year-old Rangers supporter in the face at a football match in Aberdeen and breaching the peace.
X also has a previous conviction from 2001 when he was fined £150 for committing a breach of the peace at a football match.
