Liverpool and Sunderland have agreed a deal thought to be worth about £20m for midfielder Jordan Henderson.The 20-year-old England international will travel to Liverpool for a medical and to discuss personal terms.”A fee has been agreed with Liverpool for Jordan Henderson and he travels to Anfield with the club’s blessing,” said a Sunderland statement.Sunderland had rejected Liverpool’s previous offer for the player, which was thought to be worth £16m.The Anfield club hope a deal can be finalised before Henderson joins England’s Under-21 squad on Wednesday for the European Championships.Striker David Ngog, 22, could move in the opposite direction as part of the deal, but that is yet to be confirmed.The Sunderland-born Henderson had a loan spell at Coventry City early in his career and signed a five-year contract at the Stadium of Light in April 2010.He came to prominence as Steve Bruce’s Black Cats made a fine start to the season and was rewarded with an England call-up by coach Fabio Capello.

HEARTS say any players leaving Tynecastle this close season will only be allowed to go if the buying club are paying top dollar for them.The Gorgie outfit have already brought in John Sutton, Jamie Hamill and Danny Grainger for next season and they are expected to be joined by at least another couple of signings.Zander Diamond and Mehdi Taouil are two who have been touted for the capital side but some players could be on the move.Defender Lee Wallace has been linked with Rangers and there are rumours of interest in defender Marius Zaliukas and keeper Marian Kello.But managing director David Southern says nobody needs to be sold and offers will only be accepted if it is the right deal for the club.He said: “We have made a start with the three signings and there may be one or two others. Manager Jim Jefferies is working on that right now. If it happens, it’ll be a good player and someone he wants.”With regards to players going out, we’re in a position where we have the financial backing of the owner so we do not have to sell.”But if we do sell we will get maximum value and there will already be a player in the squad to replace him.”

Another gem from those excellent purveyors of good taste – Peggs & Son of Duke Street, Brighton. I should really be seeking an advertising fee from these guys, but I’m just pleased that nestled in the back alleys of the city there’s at least one place that delivers the goods, and it’s far and away from the free-for-all along Western Road/Churchill Square.Peggs have just had their mid-season reductions, so I nipped in seeking a waterproof summer jacket at a bargain price. The Danish-born Peter Jensen is a new label for me, I was vaguely aware of him knocking out rather kooky stuff for the Dorises, not as someone who did quality menswear. But this waxed cotton jacket is just what I was after. I’m not sure if it’s indicative of his usual menswear, but I’ll keep an eye on his output anyway.
