Ipswich: Four arrests after town defeat

FOUR fans have been arrested following the East Anglian derby this afternoon.

Ipswich Town fans were held back in the stadium at Carrow Road after the match to avoid a clash outside the gates.
However, it is reported that some seats had been ripped out in the away stands and the toilets were damaged, causing them to flood.A Blues’ supporter contacted this newspaper to say coins were thrown onto the pitch by a minority of people during the game.Chief Superintendent Sarah Hamlin, of Norfolk Police, said: “I would like to thank the visiting supporters for being patient whilst the home fans left the stadium.“The safety of the public is our top priority and I am delighted that the vast majority of fans acted responsibly and respectfully, making it an enjoyable and memorable day for those who attended.”Ipswich Town lost 4-1 to Norwich City.

Road closure after home matches in Norwich

New plans have come into play to ease match day traffic problems around the Carrow Road – the home stadium of Norwich City Football Club.After a game, about 26,000 people leave the football club on foot.Norwich City Council said this can be dangerous, as pedestrians and cars try to navigate the road at the same time.Carrow Road was shut for the first time after the local derby against Ipswich Town on Sunday and will be closed at the end of every home game this season.The move was agreed by the city and county councils, the club and the police.The road was closed with manned barriers at the Koblenz Avenue junction and at Clarence Road and King Street.
