Assedio continuo ma sterile alla porta africana e la delusione sul volto di Fabio Capello, che oggi festeggiava il 64mo compleanno, era evidente. In classifica Inghilterra al secondo posto del Gruppo C, a pari punti (2) con gli Usa, mentre la Slovenia e’ prima con 4 punti. Algeria in coda con 1 punto.

Thousands of England fans were a mix of nerves and hope as they hit Cape Town ahead of tonight’s World Cup match against Algeria.

Three Lions’ supporters thronged the streets, beaches and cable cars up Table Mountain, as hordes of extra police drafted in to beef up security prepared for action.Black market tickets were yesterday being offered for up to £200 each, as Fifa warnings of a crackdown on touts appeared to go unheeded.The England players also checked in to their luxury hotel, The Vineyard, although they may not have got much sleep, with guests and neighbours blowing vuvuzela horns all night.Many of the 25,000 England fans expected to attend tonight’s match – where security will be handled by police after clashes with reportedly underpaid stewards – have been scrambling for more basic accommodation, even at at bumped-up prices.The English influx is being seen as possible salvation by Cape Town traders and business leaders who have complained about missing out on a lucrative World Cup vibe until now. There have been protests in the south-western resort that too much of the tournament is taking place in South Africa’s northern cities such as Johannesburg and Pretoria.‘People are coming but not in the numbers we expected,’ said the Cape Town Partnership’s Carola Koblitz.Hotel rooms are on offer for twice as much as before the World Cup: £27 a night for dormitory rooms or £71 for rooms with showers.Snow fell on Table Mountain earlier this week as Cape Town was hit by floods, frost and plunging temperatures – but conditions have improved and temperatures of 19ºC are expected today – though it will get sharply colder by kick-off.England fans will also visit Cape Town schools this morning, playing football with the students as part of a British Council scheme to improve links between the two countries.

Boris Johnson sounds the World Cup charge for England

Thousands of England fans descended on Cape Town today ahead of tomorrow’s World Cup clash with Algeria.London Mayor Boris Johnson has already arrived in the “Mother City” to blow the trumpet for England’s 2018 World Cup bid.He was one of many England fans to have taken to the vuvuzela and honked his horn enthusiastically on a visit to the Waterfront.He was in Cape Town to view the host city’s preparations for the tournament, including security, crowd control and ticketing.He said: “I’m here representing our city as the jewel in the crown of the England bid – a fantastic place with the best football venues on earth, a world city that can host a great World Cup.”Mr Johnson will be aware that police have taken permanent control of security at four World Cup stadiums, including at the 64,100-seater Green Point in Cape Town where England will take on their north African opponents.The move follows a walkout by stewards who demonstrated over pay.Chief executive of the organising committee Danny Jordaan said: “We will ensure that the event environment is one that contributes to this celebration.”SAPS national commissioner General Bheki Cele said: “Our priority is the safety of the tournament and the country as a whole.”We will perform our responsibilities with diligence and pride.”City spokesman Pieter Cronje insisted Cape Town is ready for the English fans.He said: “We know that this is one of their favourite destinations, there is a very large expatriate community here and many Capetonians support English clubs and therefore England players, and therefore we do expect a very sizeable presence from England fans.“He praised he was not expecting any misbehaviour from the English fans but added: “We are ready for every eventuality.”A delegation of 12 UK police officers who are on duty in South Africa during the tournament were arriving today and planned to deploy on the streets.The officers, who have been liaising with the South African authorities, praised English fans for their good behaviour.Fans already on the ground have endured heavy showers over the past few days with snow on top of Table Mountain.But clear sunny skies were expected today and tomorrow with temperatures hitting 20C on the day of the match.Most England fans will enjoy Cape Town’s upmarket bars and restaurants and will see nothing of the townships.Mandla Majola, who works in the city’s largest township, Khayelitsha as a co-ordinator for TAC, Treatment Action Campaign, said money spent on stadiums would have been better used in the local communities.He said: “The rich are becoming richer and the poor are becoming poorer and this is one of the areas which is very poor.”The Waterfront, Camps Bay and those areas are like Europe, but when you are in Khayelitsha you feel like you are really in Africa, so it’s two worlds in one country.”Meanwhile, South Africa’s hopes of reaching the knockout stages were dented last night after Uruguay pounded the home nation 3-0.In Cape Town the Fan Fest was full to bursting and bars around town were packed.But with the team heading for defeat fans walked out of Loftus Versfeld Stadium in Pretoria. And the venues around Cape Town also emptied quickly.One distraught fan said: “I’m too depressed. I don’t want to talk about it.”

Così come allo stadio i cori che cercano di reiterarsi all’infinito vengono sostituiti a seguire da un altro nuovo o contrario, o addirittura sopraffatti da quelli degli avversari, che istigati, ci sommergono di fischi ed insulti fino a coprirci per poi azzittirsi di nuovo. Nessuno potrà dire chi narra e chi ascolta, un’anarchia narrativa simile all’anarchia dei nostri pensieri, e beninteso, non ascrivibile ad un referente ideologico, bensì ad una conseguenza strutturale, morfologica, necessaria: quella dell’istinto libero che cerca la voce per darsi un racconto e quindi un’esistente nel mondo che ci circonda.
