United had taken the lead after just 66 seconds when Wayne Rooney volleyed in six yards out from Nani’s free-kick.But Franck Ribery’s deflected free-kick set up a dramatic finale, rounded off by Olic’s cool run and finish after a defensive error by Patrice Evra.United’s misery was made complete when Rooney limped off with an ankle injury.

Police said they arrested Burnley and Blackburn fans

Twelve football supporters have been charged after violence broke out at the East Lancashire derby.

Police made 42 arrests following trouble between rival fans inside and outside Burnley’s Turf Moor ground on Sunday afternoon.Blackburn Rovers beat the home side 1-0 in the Premier League clash.The 12 fans have been accused of various public order offences, including racially-aggravated behaviour and being drunk and disorderly.Using threatening words or behaviour to cause harassment, alarm or distress and possession of drugs were also among the charges.Police said fans of both clubs had been charged.

‘Pockets of disorder’

A police spokesman said the other 30 people who were arrested were either cautioned, given a penalty notice, released on bail or have had no further action taken against them.Five still remain in custody.Special arrangements were made before the game and officers warned fans that anyone who caused trouble could face a banning order.After the game Supt Terry Woods, of Lancashire Police, said “pockets of disorder” were dealt with quickly.“I would like to point out that the vast majority of fans have behaved appropriately,” he added.All those charged are due in court at the beginning of April.

Gianfranco Zola has said he is determined to stay on as West Ham manager and believes he can keep the club in the Premier League.

Saturday’s loss to Stoke was the club’s sixth in a row and prompted Zola to fly to Sardinia to consider his future.But with the club only out of the bottom three on goal difference, Zola has pledged to fight on.”I have had time to reflect. We have to work harder but we can get the results we need,” he told the club’s website.
