Tredici persone sono state arrestate in occasione della gara di “League One” che ha opposto il Leeds al Millwall. Gli agenti in servizio sono stati bersagliati da oggetti mentre tenevano le due tifoserie separate. Almeno trecento fans dei “bianchi” avrebbero cercato di venire a contatto con i dirimpettai londinesi. La polizia ha annunciato la prossima individuazione di altri soggetti grazie all’esame dei filmati. In “Premier League” il Chelsea ha passeggiato sul campo del Portsmouth ( 0-5 ) mentre l’ Everton si è imposto al “City of Manchester”. In Scozia i Celtic hanno subito un clamoroso 4-0 dal St.Mirren, dicendo praticamente addio alle residue speranze di contendere ancora il titolo ai Rangers che adesso vantano 10 punti di vantaggio e due gare in più da disputare. La capolista, però, recente vincitrice della Coppa di Lega, è stata superata dal Dundee nel “replay” valevole per la Coppa di Scozia.

After a low-key start, Didier Drogba rolled the ball into an empty net after David James kicked at thin air.Florent Malouda slammed in a second before following up Frank Lampard’s saved shot to slot in a third.Drogba outmuscled Steve Finnan and fired in at the near post before Lampard headed in an injury time fifth.

Andy Dorman and Steven Thomson bagged double strikes to give St Mirren their first ever win against Celtic in the Scottish Premier League.

Dorman’s 38th-minute close-range effort opened the scoring after good work by Billy Mehmet.Steven Thomson fired in from 18 yards out for the Buddies’ second and Dorman added another six minutes from the end.Thomson completed a memorable night late on with a cool 18-yard strike from Michael Higdon’s square ball.The three points edge St Mirren further away from the relegation zone.

Leeds United v Millwall: Police pelted with missiles

Police were pelted with missiles as they tried to stop hundreds of fans clashing after Leeds United’s clash with Millwall.A 300-strong crowd tried to confront visiting Millwall fans following the match, which saw the Whites crash to a 2-0 home defeat.“During the dispersal, officers were subjected to sporadic incidents of stones and other missiles being thrown at them and their police vehicles – four vehicles suffered damage to their windows.” Thirteen people were arrested over the course of the evening for a variety of public order offences. And Chf Supt Milsom added: “As part of their ongoing work, our Football Banning Order Unit already has the extensive video footage of the incidents taken by our evidence gathering teams. “We will be actively following up any evidence against those involved, including the younger members of the crowd, with a view to successfully obtaining Football Banning Orders and Anti-Social Behaviour Orders against them.”
