Dopo il successo sul campo dei Wolves che ha consentito al Chelsea di allungare sul Man Utd Carlo Ancelotti ha dichiarato che il campionato è tutt’altro che finito ed ha ammonito la squadra a tenere alta la concentrazione in vista delle prossime partite. Intanto il Blackburn ha ottenuto un preziosissimo successo sul Bolton per quanto concerne la parte bassa della classifica, bassifondi dove si è aggravata la posizione del Burnley travolto ( 5-2 ) dall’ Aston Villa. Nulla di fatto, invece, nella sfida più attesa che opponeva il Man City al Liverpool.

Manchester City and Liverpool played out a miserable stalemate at Eastlands as they battled for fourth place in the Premier League.

Roberto Mancini and Rafael Benitez have their sights set on a place in next season’s Champions League – but this was a wretched advert for their lofty ambitions in an encounter that plumbed the depths for long periods.Emmanuel Adebayor had City’s best opportunities with a shot that was well saved by Liverpool keeper Pepe Reina and a header just off target.Martin Skrtel headed wide from Liverpool’s clearest opening late in the first half, but both teams were so poor that it would have been a travesty had either claimed all three points.Liverpool could at least point to the return of Fernando Torres, who made a 15-minute appearance as a substitute after knee surgery, but there was little else to provide any cheer amid an Eastlands downpour.

Carlo Ancelotti has urged Chelsea not to lose focus in their Premier League run-in, despite going four points clear at the top of the table.

The Blues secured a 2-0 win over Wolves that resulted in them extending their lead over second-placed Manchester United, who lost to Everton.But manager Ancelotti said: “This is a big win for us after the United result.”We have 11 games to play and four points is a nice gap to have but we must stay focused, nothing is decided.“The victory at Molineux was a hard-fought one for Chelsea as they had to resist a brave performance from the hosts.

Tensione ieri ad Edimburgo per una manifestazione della “Scottish Defence League”. Cinque arresti sono stati compiuti a carico di contromanifestanti che hanno erroneamente tentato di assaltare un pub dove credevano ci fossero membri dell’ organizzazione. Esponenti della “English Defence League” sono stati fermati dalla polizia mentre si accingevano a partire per sostenere la manifestazione di Edimburgo. Un centinaio di membri della “SDL” sono, comunque, riusciti a radunarsi in un pub di fronte al parlamento scozzese, rigettando qualsiasi accusa di essere un movimento razzista o totalitarista.

There were minor skirmishes as anti-fascist protesters tried to enter a bar on the Royal Mile where they believed members of the SDL had gathered.Police confirmed that five arrests were made for public order offences.About 90 people were kept inside Jenny Ha’s pub, opposite the Scottish Parliament, by police who blocked the doors and sealed off the area to stop the rival groups clashing.They were later taken from the building and put onto buses which then left the city.More than 700 officers were deployed to police the event. Assistant Chief Constable Iain Livingstone, of Lothian and Borders Police, said he was pleased no major problems occurred and he thanked members of the public for their co-operation.It is understood extra officers from Northumbria Police in England had been drafted in to help.The English Defence League has held several demonstrations, including events in London, Manchester and Leeds.The group describes accusations of racism or fascism as “flat-out untrue”.
