La polizia continua ad investigare riguardo alla morte di un tifoso dello Stoke City, colpito da un oggetto ( probabilmente un pesante cestino ) e successivamente deceduto per un sopravvenuto arresto cardiaco, in occasione della trasferta a Stoke on Trent. I fatti sembrano essere accaduti nell’ intervallo della gara e pare che non vi siano coinvolgimenti di sostenitori della squadra di casa. In sintesi potrebbe essersi trattato di un tragico diverbio tra fans dei Rovers. Un giovane di 25 anni è stato arrestato. Intanto in Galles sale la febbre per la doppa sfida con l’ Inghilterra che si disputerà nell’ambito delle qualificazioni ad Euro 2012.

A man injured during yesterday’s Premier League match at Stoke City has died in hospital.The 30-year-old fan is thought to have been hit on the head with a bin. He was found unconscious and taken to hospital where he died in the early hours this morning.The incident happened in the Blackburn Rovers section of the ground and police say no Stoke supporters were involved.”The circumstances are being fully investigated,” said a police spokesman. “A 25-year-old man remains in custody and is helping police with their inquiries.”The man was found by police just after 4pm yesterday in the Britannia Stadium’s south stand where the travelling Blackburn supporters were seated.Police said the man was treated at the scene for a head injury and cardiac arrest.Chief Inspector Adrian Roberts, match commander at the game, said there were more than 1,300 Blackburn supporters at the game, which Stoke won 3-0.

 

John Steven Taylor, a 30-year-old from Darwen, Lancashire, and Blackburn season ticket holder, died just before 2am on Sunday morning. He had been found unconscious in the concourse area of the Britannia Stadium just after the half-time interval.He was treated at the scene for head injuries and cardiac arrest, with a Staffordshire police spokesman confirming that the head injury had been fatal.”A Home Office post-mortem was carried out earlier today and the cause of death was due to a head injury,” the spokesman said.Police have arrested a 25-year-old man from Preston in connection with the incident.A statement on Blackburn’s website said the man was among a 1,300-strong Rovers following in the South Stand, adding that the club was shocked and saddened by the event.”This is a tragic situation and our thoughts are with John’s family at this deeply distressing time,” said club chairman John Williams.Chief Inspector Adrian Robert, match commander at the game which Stoke won 3-0, said no Stoke fans were involved in the incident.
