“Referees’ chief Keith Hackett has said sorry to Neil Warnock after Crystal Palace were denied a valid goal in Saturday’s 1-0 defeat at Bristol City.
Freddie Sears fired home on 30 minutes but referee Rob Shoebridge failed to spot that the ball had crossed the line before bouncing out off a stanchion.After the match, Warnock claimed his side had been “cheated”.And Hackett admitted: “You would like to think the match officials would have spotted the ball had crossed the line.”As well as saying sorry to Warnock, Hackett also offered his apologies to the Palace fans who had travelled to Bristol.”

“Portadown and Glentoran football clubs have underlined they will co-operate with any official inquiry following Saturday’s pitch invasion after the Belfast side scored a late winner in the IFA Premiership match.Glens striker Gary Hamilton hit the winner in injury time in the thriller at Shamrock Park, Portadown, and after the final whistle he was accosted by a young fan who seemed to have emerged from the club’s new £1.2m grandstand over temporary security barriers.In the mayhem that followed, Glentoran fans — who were in the stand behind the goals where Hamilton hit the 35-yard free-kick for the 2-1 victory — broke down a gate and went into the main arena. And Portadown fans burst out of their stand where the barriers were breached.There was a short confrontation between opposing fans, but this was calmed down by players”

“Following the ‘Deepdale Done Again` night at Bloomfield Road earlier this summer, we can reveal the great news that enough money has been raised to fund a memorial plaque for Kevin Olsson.On 24th August 1974, 17 year old Blackpool fan Kevin Olsson was stabbed to death at the back of the Spion Kop at Bloomfield Road during a match with Bolton Wanderers in what was the first hooligan death at an English football match.The total cost of the plaque is £400, and the money was raised on the night through a raffle and auction, where two tickets to watch a Blackpool home game from the director`s box were up for grabs.The plaque is sized 18 inches by 18 inches by 2 inches and will be located at the North West corner of the ground. The plaque will erected next week and will be unveiled at a ceremony before the Wigan game in the Carling Cup.Many thanks to the fans who made this lasting and moving tribute possible, as well as the football club themselves”
