Estremamente “vissuto”è anche il “derby” di Manchester tra City e United mentre la sfida tra Everton e Liverpool, a livello di rapporti tra tifoserie, ha alternato momenti di rivalità più o meno intensa. Ora pare che le nuove generazioni stiano rinfocolando un rapporto che si stava incanalando nell’ alveo della mentalità comune da “scousers”. Un dirigente dell’ Everton si è recentemente lamentato di questa recrudescenza che rende le sfide nuovamente “a rischio”. Tra le gallesi Cardiff e Swansea gli “incroci” sono sempre stati “al calor bianco” così come tra Sunderland e Newcastle, dove l’ astio reciproco affonda in una tradizione secolare che ha sempre opposto le città anche da un punto di vista commerciale. In Scozia la “madre di tutte le partite” è, senza dubbio, l’ “Old Firm” di Glasgow dove, su un campo di calcio, si oppongono differenze sociali, politiche e , soprattutto, religiose. Una copia in scala minore è la stracittadina di Edimburgo tra i cattolici Hibernians ed i protestanti Hearts mentre buon sangue non è mai corso tra le tifoserie di Aberdeen e Dundee.

hope to have fit-again Radoslav Kovac back for tomorrow’s Barclays Premier League clash against Chelsea at Upton Park.
Kavac is likely to be the only addition to the squad which earned a point against Aston Villa last time out.
