Si allunga di ora in ora la lista degli incontri del campionato inglese e scozzese  posticipati a causa delle pessime condizioni atmosferiche. Danny Welbeck scored the winner as Sunderland leapfrogged Bolton into sixth place with a hard-earned win.

Welbeck headed home his fifth goal in six games after Jussi Jaaskelainen had denied a Darren Bent shot.Sunderland keeper Craig Gordon produced a remarkable one-handed save to deny Zat Knight a close-range equaliser.Welbeck also struck the outside of the post for the home side, while Bolton threatened late on through Gary Cahill and substitute Ivan Klasnic.

The freezing conditions across Britain have once again led to the postponement of a host of weekend sporting fixtures.

The Premier League games at Liverpool, Birmingham and Wigan are off, while three Championship games are postponed.The only League One game still on is at Exeter, while the entire League Two programme has been wiped out.Scottish Premier League games at St Johnstone, Aberdeen, Hamilton and Rangers are also off while rugby union and horse racing have also been hit.In Scotland, the First Division matches at Queen of the South, Raith and Ross County have fallen foul of the weather along with a host of games from the lower leagues.
