Wayne Rooney sempre piu’ lontano dal Manchester United. L’attuale contratto, in scadenza nel 2012, prevede un ingaggio di 3,5 milioni di euro all’anno. Uno stipendio che l’interessato vorrebbe raddoppiato nel nuovo accordo, consapevole che altrove potrebbe guadagnare molto di piu’. Al City, per esempio, intenzionato a proporglisei milioni all’anno. E anche il Chelsea -come ha ammesso lo stesso Ancelotti – potrebbe inserirsi nell’asta per Rooney, ‘ma solo se davvero lo United volesse venderlo’.

Calderwood unveiled as Hibs boss

Newcastle assistant Colin Calderwood has been unveiled as Hibernian’s new manager on a three-year contract.

The Edinburgh club had been looking for a successor to John Hughes, who exited the club earlier this month.Calderwood told Newcastle’s website: “The opportunity to manage a top-flight side in my home country was hard for me to turn down.”And that is a challenge I’m greatly looking forward to, but Newcastle will always be a special club to me.“Former Chelsea assistant Steve Clarke and Scotland Under-21 manager Billy Stark are also thought to have been considered for the job in Edinburgh.In addition, Shamrock Rovers manager Michael O’Neill, a former Hibs player, and Bohemians’ Pat Fenlon were linked with the post.

Calderwood was also interviewed for the job last time around but lost out on that occasion to Hughes.The 45-year-old former Scotland defender managed Northampton Town and Nottingham Forest before joining Newcastle in January 2009.And, as assistant manager at St James Park working with his Tottenham Hotspur colleague, Chris Hughton, Newcastle were promoted to the Premier League in England as champions.

Collum will take charge when Rangers visit Celtic Park on Sunday

Willie Collum has been chosen to referee the first Old Firm derby of the season, at Celtic Park on Sunday.

The 31-year-old, who refereed his first senior league game in November 2004, will be taking charge of a Celtic-Rangers game for the first time.His appointment comes a month after he took charge of his first Champions League match, overseeing Copenhagen’s 2-0 win away to Panathinaikos.Collum has also refereed international and Europa League matches.He took charge of his first Scottish Premier League game in April 2006.

The Old Firm derby will come a week after the latest controversy to engulf Scotland’s top referees.Celtic manager Neil Lennon and Dundee United counterpart Peter Houston both criticised Dougie McDonald’s performance in the Glasgow side’s 2-1 victory.Lennon was angry that McDonald had overturned his decision to award a penalty after consulting his linesman.Houston described the referee’s performance as “below average” and suggested that McDonald should not have awarded the spot kick in the first place.But Scottish Football Association referees’ chief Hugh Dallas thinks that Collum’s appointment is proof that the standard of officials is improving in Scotland.“I think the younger referees are now coming through to the top level and we see a young referee taking charge of the first Old Firm game of the season,” he told BBC Scotland.”It’s his first Old Firm game on Sunday and that is a young referee who only seven or eight years ago who was operating within the youth academy, so it augers well for the future.”Holders Rangers travel across Glasgow on Sunday as league leaders, but only thanks to having scored one extra goal.Walter Smith’s side and their city rivals both have 100% league records this season after eight games.Indeed, Lennon has led his Celtic side to 16 straight victories since taking over, initially as caretaker, following the sacking of Tony Mowbray last season.
